It's Been 5 Months, Let's Catch Up!

Hey friends! How have you been? Team Yearley has been in a whirlwind in 2022. At the end of February, I shared a fairly detailed blog of the uphill battles that Team Yearley had been facing during that time. Since then, much has happened and continues to happen with the passing days. I thought that since it's been a little while, I'd share a follow-up to my last update as well as my plans for my upcoming blog series.

As I shared in February, Jesse had been in an accident on his way to work in Denver. It took almost 2 weeks, but we found out that his car was in fact totaled and we had to get another car in March. About a month after the accident we started having in depth conversations about the future of Team Yearley in our current positions. We were really struggling as a family and found that Jesse's job change hadn't been right for our family. It was after much discussion and careful consideration that we determined it was best for Jesse to return to his previous job. With that decided Team Yearley embarked on yet another transition. It has been such a blessing for our family and we are so grateful to all be together again.

In my last blog, I also shared that our pipes froze and that we had family coming to help us check it all out. They came and completely replaced our heat tape, ensuring that our pipes would function better for us. While under the house, they saw a bit of water collecting in the underside of our house. Assuming it was due to the flood in the bathroom, I didn't give it a second thought. That is, until 2 weeks later when our water heater began flooding through our bedroom closet and into the laundry room. It turned out that the heavily rusted water heater had been leaking for quite sometime and finally made its way through the walls and into the laundry room, where I finally noticed it. -__- Again, the blessing here was that our family came alongside us & replaced the water heater for us. It was a HUGE blessing and we felt so grateful to yet again be able to call on them in such a desperate time.

I had mentioned that Lucas was going to be switching over to virtual school for at least a week due to illness in his classroom. It ended up only being that week after which he was able to finish out the school year with his friends and teachers in school. He completed Kindergarten in May and we dove head first into the craziest summer:

  • We have been to two weddings, one of which Lucas was a co-ring bearer with my nephew for their Uncle Michael's wedding. I can say without hesitation that my brother's wedding was by far one of the best weddings I have ever been apart of and I am incredibly excited for their marriage and for our family!

  • We went camping for the first time ever. And let me tell you.... what an experience that was. -__-

  • We celebrated Father's Day and several birthdays - including America (haha!), Lucas turning six & Jesse turning 28.

  • Lucas has been playing t-ball and Win has been in gymnastics for the first time ever.

  • Additionally, we have made the decision to pull Lucas from public school and started year round homeschool with him two weeks ago! (More on this next blog, so stay tuned if you're interested!!)

All the while, Jesse & I have been trying to maintain our work schedules, housework, and a busy family calendar. There has been no shortage of plans, things to get done or places to be. It feels like we are always on the move and that the calendar rarely has days available. But I can say without hesitation that we wouldn't have it any other way. Jesse and I look forward to having more days to relax in the future when the babies are grown and we've done all that we have been called to. Until then, we are soaking up the family life and keeping up as best as possible!

Looking to the rest of the year, we still have quite a lot going on, but we are eager for the change of season, the joys of the fall and winter, and the continued growth of our sweet (and a little sour) kiddos! The next big event on the schedule is a visit from my dad and brother this week! We are so excited to have them here and are really looking forward to getting to spend some quality time with them. My brother hasn't been to Colorado since Lucas was 3 weeks old. This trip he will get to see not only his now six year old nephew, but he gets to meet his almost 2 year old niece for the first time in person!! Up next we're looking to a variety of fun things before closing out 2022:

  • Lucas starts flag football in the fall, along with a homeschool co-op one day a week.

  • Win will likely do gymnastics again, as she quite enjoyed it this summer. We are also looking for a dance studio or dance classes for her as it seems to be something she really loves. (It's hard to believe I'm talking about our kids as I write this. How are they even old enough for flag football and dance!?!)

  • I am hopeful that I will be able to join a bible study this fall.

  • I will be celebrating my 30th birthday!!

  • Winnie turns 2!

  • My dad will be visiting again in the fall and will be here for Halloween, just in between mine & Win's birthdays. (:

  • And then we're onto the rest of the holidays!!

I appreciate all of y'all for sticking with me if you've made it this far in the blog! I realize I'm a chatterbox and have a tendency to ramble. I hope that this has been as succinct as possible with little rambling. (: In the next week or two (depending on how life shakes out this week), I will be starting a blog series dedicated to homeschool. There is a lot to unpack and it really makes the most sense for me to break it up and have it be more manageable for all to follow along. This journey has not come easy, nor has it been what I expected, but ultimately I'm finding a new side of both myself and Lucas. I am hopeful that this is going to be a fruitful journey and I'm excited to share all of the details with everyone!!

I look forward to sharing more with y'all soon! In the meantime, embrace the crazy days, hug your loved ones whenever you can, and remember that being kind and respectful goes a lot further than trying to win an argument.

Xx,

Mama Yearley
